She was predeceased by: her parents, Albert Garhart and Rose Garhart (Hansen); her husband Leo Birkel; her son Matthew Birkel; and her brothers, James Garhart and George Garhart.
She is survived by: her children, Bonnie Luethke (Doug) of Milford, Mike Birkel (Bobbie Jo) of Garland and Joshua Birkel of Seward, Nebraska; her grandchildren, Joey Birkel (Emily), Racquel Luethke, Alex Birkel, Chase Birkel, Dustin Luethke, Caine Birkel, Leo Birkel Bailey and Alando Birkel; her great grandchildren, James and Liam Birkel; and her siblings, Terry Garhart, Tommy Garhart, Rose Mary Garhart, Karen Neal, Lucy Peterson and Carol Nyreen.
