He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman Weiss and Martha Weiss (Marker). He is survived by: his former wife Virginia Eckhardt (Ginny); his close friends, Pam and Mike Carpenter; his wife Kathie Donahue; his daughters, Shari Shanks (Brian) and Amy Potter (Joel); his stepchildren, Nichole Chitwood (Jeff), James Becker (Lisa) and Alisha Becker; his grandchildren, Brett Rosso (Jessica), Cameron Rose and Matthew Potter; his stepgrandchildren, Mason Becker, Madison Vorse, Maric Vorse, Ayden Laughlin, Savanna Becker, Emma Becker and Grace Becker; his great grandchild Ailana Vorse; and his siblings-in-law, Sharon Knaub and Duane Knaub. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
His contributions to farming were recognized at the age of 27, when he received the Outstanding Young Farmer Award from the Scottsbluff Jaycees.
