He was predeceased by: his mother Felicitas Josephine Schmidt (Suing); his wife Sharon Kay; his grandparents, Joseph, Josephine Suing, Elmer and Eva Mann; his father Raymond Schmidt; his son Michael; and his siblings-in-law, Lloyd Hejna, Melvin, Ralph Mann, Ted Pickett and Eldora Pickett.
He is survived by: his daughter Cheri Rodgers (Donald) of Wausa, NE; his grandchildren, Cory Martinson of Wayne, NE, Corys (Shelby Loberg), Abigail (Chris), Carrylee (Christina Martinson), Hannah Schmidt of Hartington and Zachary Steffen of Sioux Falls, SD; his great grandchild Callahan Carrurth; his siblings, Darrold Schmidt (Jean), Arlynn Schmidt (Dorothy) of Elk Point, SD, Marvin "Butch" Schmidt (Marlene) of Fordyce, NE and Marilyn Hejna of Utica, SD.; and also Elmer.
