He was predeceased by: his parents, Marvin Earnest (Stub) and Beatrice Carolyn Nelson (Iverson); his former wife Hazeloraine Nelson; and his siblings, Lyle Nelson, Ted Nelson and Muriel Hageman.
He is survived by: his sisters, Murial and Ann; his brother-in-law Lloyd Smith; his children, Terry, Trenda and Lakeside; his friend Maxine Jesse Leach; his wife Lillian Nelson; his sister-in-law Lupita Nelson; his children, Kris Nelson (Lakeside), Trent, Sandra Nelson (Alliance) and Jonathan Nielson (Ellsworth); and his stepchildren, Dawn Cronk of Torrington, WY, Earl Carl of River Falls, WI and Jeff Carl of Torrington, WY. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, ten step-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial has been established for the Gordon Memorial Hospital and donations may be sent in care of Chamberlain-Pier Funeral Home, PO Box 366, Gordon, NE 69343.
