He was predeceased by: his parents, Max Carnell and Frances Carnell (Crofoot); and his brother-in-law Curt Neill. He is survived by: his wife Nikki Carnell (Von Minden); his children, Kris, Stacey Carnell (Vondrak) of Ponca, Tracy (Carnell) and Ken Hirschfeld of Papillion; his siblings, Terri (Jim Lamprecht), Diane Neill of Ponca, Chuck (Rhonda Carnell), Kent (Karla Carnell), Lynnette (Don O'Dell), Roger (Paula Carnell) and Tyler (Ann Carnell); his grandchildren, Brady Carnell of Ponca, Casey Hirschfeld (Andrew Nguyen) of Omaha, Camryn Hirschfeld of Omaha, Jacob, Ryan Hirschfeld (Muhle) of Lincoln and Carrie Hirschfeld of Papillion; and his great grandchild Hallie Hirschfeld of Lincoln.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be designated to Trinity Lutheran Church of Martinsburg, NE, Ponca Community Education Foundation, or the Ponca Fire Department.
