She was predeceased by: her parents, George Spelts and Elaine Spelts (Asay); her husband David Lee Kennel; and her brothers, John and Allan.

She is survived by: her daughter Jennifer Rathbun (Ryan) of Marquette, NE; her grandchildren, Taylar Eikmeier (Conner) of Aurora, NE and Jeris Rathbun of Marquette; her great grandchild Elliot Eikmeier of Aurora; and her siblings, Barb Ludwig of North Platte, NE and Kerry Spelts (LeAnn) of Kearney, NE..
