He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Bender and Marie Bender (Brauer); and his sisters, Bernice Eaton and Janice Bade. He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Eaton of Paul's Lutheran Church; and his children, Vic Bender (Ronda) of Beatrice, Kathie Carlstrom (Dennis) of Polk, Patti Saner (Randy) of North Platte and Terry Bender (Melanie) of Hordville. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
