He was predeceased by: his parents, Kenneth Gerdes and Marie Gerdes (Fritz); his brother-in-law Robert Morton; and his parents-in-law, Harley, Cora Morton Virgil, Hugh J. Kearns Post, F. W. Post, Burton Vandenburg, Andy Pohlmeier, Lenis Grauf, Jerry Morris, Dick Copenhaver, Robert Morton, Jr., Rod Edwards, Bill Mahoney, Jack Bohlken and Mike Bohlken.

He is survived by: his wife Judy Gerdes of Plattsmouth; his sisters, Margaret Shelton (Gary) of California and Kay Kechman (Al) of Idaho; and his sisters-in-law, Barbara Bohlken of Nebraska City, Mary Lou Copenhaver (Dick) of Mesa, AZ, Sharon Grauf (Lenis) of Plattsmouth and Shirley Morris (Jerry) of Lincoln, NE.. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
