Joy Lynn Steyer Obituary

JOY LYNN STEYER 1957 – 2024 Joy Lynn (Stipe) Steyer, age 66 of Plattsmouth, NE peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at her residence.

Joy was born on December 27, 1957 to John Lyons Stipe and Dorina Marie (Robichaud) Stipe in Spokane County, WA. She was raised and schooled in many different locations while her father served his country in the U.S. Air Force. Joy attended Plattsmouth High School and she graduated from Iowa Western Community College with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Education. Joy met the love of her life Rod Lewis Steyer and they were later married on July 2, 1990 in Council Bluffs, IA. Joy and Rod made their home in Council Bluffs, Red Oak, IA, and Plattsmouth. She had worked as an elementary school teacher in special education in Council Bluffs and Red Oak, and later Joy worked as the dietitian at Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak.

She will be severely missed by everyone that knew her. A special thanks to Kara Stipe and Amy Casson for helping with everything you two are truly angels.

Joy is survived by her husband of forty years: Rod Steyer of Plattsmouth, NE; her daughter: Jennifer Kesselberg-Dubon of Omaha, NE; her son: Kenneth Aaron Kesselberg and his wife Barbara of Ada, MN; three grandchildren: Kalvin, Ashton, and Chantel Kesselberg; her three brothers: Jay Stipe of Nebraska City, NE, Don Stipe of Plattsmouth, NE, and Robert Stipe and his wife Crystal of Omaha, NE; her sister: Dara Hogueison and her husband Jason of Plattsmouth, NE; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents John and Dorina Stipe.

A Celebration of Life will be at 1:00 P.M., on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 40303 Highway 92, Carson, IA 51525.
