He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Calvin Higgins and Florence Higgins (Heikes); his wife Myrna Higgins; his siblings, Joan Barnard, Doris Thorp and Ronald Higgins; his siblings-in-law, Verneal Higgins, Vonnie Higgins, Johnny Barnard, Lyle Schmidt and Joe Thorp; his nephew Scott Higgins; and his niece Kathy Russell.
He is survived by: his siblings, Marjorie Penner (Harvey) of Loveland, CO and Charles Higgins of Beatrice, NE; his siblings-in-law, Marilyn Higgins of Beatrice, NE and Myron Nelson (Betty) of Newman Grove, NE; and his nieces and nephews, Linda Totsch (Ron) of Wilmington, NC, Gail Barnard (Diane) of Beatrice, NE, Michael Barnard (Lori) of Iuka, MI, Greg Schmidt (Cathy) of Lincoln, NE, Jana Tanner (Jerry) of Lincoln, NE, Susan Tomalino (Roy) of Loveland, CO, Rebecca Skandalaris (George) of Highland, MI and Mike Russell of Beatrice, NE. He is also survived by numerous cousins and friends.
