She was predeceased by: her parents, William Addison Hawthorne and Joyce Myrtle Hawthorne (Rawlings); her husband Gary Newburn; and her children, Larry VanderVeen and Nora Haley.
She is survived by: her daughters, Debra Schueth of Plattsmouth, NE and JoLee Derner (Dan) of Papillion, NE; and her sister Clarissa Goff of Colorado Springs, CO. She is also survived by eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren.
