He was loved and cherished by many people including: his father Jose Cota; his wife Edith Melo of Plattsmouth, NE; his children, Raquel Hartranft (Tom) of Glenwood, IA, Ruth Shockney (Tom) of Smyrna, TN and Roy Melo (Brenda) of Manley, NE; his grandchildren, Alicia Melo of York, NE, Nick Melo (Desiree) of Plattsmouth, NE, Tabitha Kruger (Aaron) of Glenwood, IA, Lindsey Wylie (Robin) of Smyrna, TN, Mikala Norrie (John) of Omaha, NE, Shannon Chizek (Quinn) of Omaha, NE and Travis Melo of Springfield, NE; his great grandchildren, Jackson Turner, Sarah Turner, Zachary Turner, Evelyn Melo, Skyelynn Kruger, Carson Wylie, Reagan Wylie and Hunter Chizek; his brother Manuel Frenando Melo (Fatima) of Angra Azores, Portugal; his mother Maria Melo; and his siblings, Frank, Gilberto, Carlos, Jose Melo and Maria Melo. He was also cherished by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
