It is with great sadness that we announce the death of William Earl Abernathy Jr. of Peru, Nebraska, born in Nebraska City, Nebraska, who passed away on January 6, 2021, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, William E. and Lola G. Abernathy, Sr. (Dukes); his brother Donald; his sister-in-law Doris Abernathy; and his daughter-in-law Kerry Abernathy.
He is survived by: his wife LaVonda Aufenkamp of Papillion; his children, Linda Perez (Paul) of LaVista, Scott Abernathy (Jamie) of Covington, WA and Terri Clyde (Dick) of Papillion; his grandchildren, Pilar Kinney (John), Julia Mulligan (Eric), Ethan Perez (Ruth), Macon Abernathy (Catherine), Talon Abernathy, Tanner Abernathy (Amelia), Madison Torgerson and Haley Torgerson; his great grandchildren, Lincoln, Lola Kinney, Palmer, Beckett, Ellis Mulligan and Theo Perez; and his brother Gilbert Abernathy (Darlene) of Thornton, CO. He is also survived by loving nieces, nephews and friends.
Bill served as a past president of the NCHS Alumni Foundation Board.
