He was predeceased by: his parents, William H. Benson and Lydia C. M. Benson (Ulrich); his parents-in-law, Walter and Floy Volle (Shirley); his sister Genevieve North; and his siblings-in-law, Chester Volle, Kenneth Volle, William Gates, Wayne North, Marilyn Volle and Marian Volle.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Volle; his children, Gail Mach (Rick), Kurt Benson (Deb) of Pawnee City, Jill Sunneberg (Dan) of DuBois and Gary Benson (Charlotte) of Valentine; his grandchildren, Fawn Benson Gernstein, Kody Benson, Jeremy Benson, Joshua Benson, Adam Mach, Laramie Benson Hoff, Jacob Benson, Alyssa Mach Kalin, Laurel Sunneberg Duba and Morgan Sunneberg Schlautman; his sisters-in-law, Kathryn Gates of Seattle and Peggy Volle of Tucson, Arizona.; and also Glen Fisher. He is also survived by 19 great grandchildren.
