Hugh T Davis wrote a sympathy message

“So sorry to hear of Vern's passing. I knew him as a colleague in the 4-H world. I had as much respect for him as anyone I've worked with in over 40 years. He was a true gentleman, very thoughtful in all he did, didn't jump to rash decisions on anything and was always willing to share his expertise with me. He certainly was one of the good ones and will be missed!!! Tom Davis, NY 4-H”
