He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Bette, Kelly Smith, Pat and Mary Thies; his aunts and uncles, Dick, Cammie Neumann, Lois, Marty Johnson and Mike Thies; and his cousin Kelli Zastrow.
He is survived by: his wife Cindy Carter; his parents, Robert Thies and Diane Thies; his sister Ali Bruckner (Greg); his aunts and uncles, Jackie Terry, Georgia Zastrow, Kim Hogstad (Brian), Doug Smith (Beth), Wayne Newman (Evelyn), Gerry Thies (Barb) and Don Thies (Peggy); and his nephews, Mitch (Abby), Dillon and Levi. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Matt's name to Smith-Lemli-Opitz Foundation.
