She was predeceased by: her parents, Leonard Kurtzhals and Clara Kurtzhals of Coleridge, Nebraska.; her husband Gene Maier; her brothers, Leonard Kurtzhals Jr., Robert Kurtzhals and James Kurtzhals; and her stepdaughter Crystal Blare.

She is survived by: her daughter Stacey Maier; her granddaughter Josey Blare; her son-in-law Cully Blare; her stepson Terry Maier; her sister-in-law Shirley Kurtzhals; and her pets, Georgie, Charlie, Gracie, Lizzie and Annie. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
