He was predeceased by: his parents, Charley J. Hepfinger and Eleanor Hepfinger (Campbell); his brother John R. Hepfinger; and his pet Dobby. He is survived by: his wife Kathleen Kay Gross; his children, Tammy Hoggatt (Mike) and Charley A. Hepfinger (Sona); his grandchildren, Cecilia, Jack Hoggatt, Amiya and Shaili Hepfinger; his brother Kip Hepfinger (Carol); and his stepbrother Dr. James Penney (Peg). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
