She was predeceased by: her parents, Alvie "Brick" and Sarah Mapes (Smith); her sister Zelpha (Raymond); her daughter-in-law Jo Schmit (Sohl); and her grandson Joshua Baller.
She is survived by: her husband Raymond J. Schmit of Atkinson; and her children, Jim, Bev Throener (Al) of Norfolk, Connie Baller (Kelly) of Milligan, Patty Timmerman (Roger) of Osmond and Jane Reiman (Lawrence) of O'Neill. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the family for future designation.
