He was predeceased by: his parents, Dorothy Matthews and Earl Matthews. He is survived by: his siblings, Monte, Truman, Wayne and Dorothy; his former wife Sharon; his wife Rhonda Matthews; his siblings, Beth Soper (LaVere), Dan Matthews and JoAnn Knouse; his children, Dan Matthews, Mike Matthews (Crystal), Melinda Hallyburton and David Mesteth Matthews (Jenni); his grandchildren, Tanner, Noelle Matthews, Dylan (Madison), Justin, Nate Matthews, Bryan, Aaron Hallyburton, Railin, Grayson, Owen and Elan Mesteth; his great grandchildren, Ryder Johnson and Hudson Matthews; his brother-in-law Joe Allison; and also, Dorothy, Earl Matthews, Truman LaMonte, Wayne Matthews and Loyce Gregg.

A celebration of life was held on Saturday, April 12th 2025 at 2:30 PM at the Garden County Eagle Club (201 Main St, Oshkosh, NE 69154).

The family asks that donations and memorials be directed to his family for a later designation.
