He was predeceased by : his parents, Everett Marvin and Verdilla Jane Black (Fitzgerald); and his sister Patricia Walgreen Larson. He is survived by : his brother James Black (Barbara) of Norfolk; and his nieces and nephews, Sandra Nuzback (Dave) of Lodi, Gail Raitt (Jim) of Prairie du Sac, Wisconsin, Tom Black (Debra) of Redwood City, Michael Black (Satoko) of Glenridge, Wade Herley (Kristine) of Norfolk, NE and Sam Herley of Yankton, SD. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.

A memorial service was held on Thursday, June 13th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the Evangelical Free Church (101 W 9th St, Stromsburg, NE 68666). A burial was held on Thursday, June 13th 2024 at 4:00 PM at the Fullerton Cemetery's 550th.
