She was predeceased by: her parents, Alfred Ernest and Cathryn Ann Calkins (Sonday); her husband Phillip O. Burd; her siblings, Maurine Fisher (Elmer), Gertrude Ward (Thomas), Genevieve Brower (Lane), Elnor Chambers, Wayne Calkins and Wilton "Bill" Calkins (Edith); her son-in-law Lawrence George; and her grandson-in-law Greg Efta.
She is survived by: her daughter Trudi George of Orleans; and her grandchildren, Kern Porter (Darcie) of Orleans, Penny Lingg of Oxford, Traci Dietz of Orleans, Heidi Efta of Longwood, Kenneth George (Verlene) of Amarillo, Linda Overfors (Greg) of Topeka and Sue Barnes (Derbin) of Phillipsburg. She is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren, 23 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Due to health concerns, regarding the COVID-19 pandemic; current CDC and Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services guidelines for Faith-Based Services will be followed.
A memorial has been established in Dorothy's honor, and kindly suggested to the Orleans Presbyterian Church.
