She was predeceased by: her husband Kenneth Schroder; and her brother-in-law Don Gimeson. She is survived by: her children, Oliver "Stub", Doris Iola Sell (Russell), Dee Schultz of Axtell, Nebraska and Donna Lux (Ron) of Republican City, Nebraska; her siblings, James Sell (Diane) of Holdrege, Nebraska and Allene Gimeson of Kearney; and her siblings-in-law, Myrene Snyder (Alvin) of Alma, Wanda Cochran (Gordon) of Alma and Daryle Schroder (Kay) of Alma. She is also survived by five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren.
Due to health concerns, regarding the COVID-19 pandemic; current CDC and Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services guidelines for Faith-Based Services will be followed.
A memorial has been established in Verlene's honor and kindly suggested to the Good Samaritan Society – Colonial Villa or to the Harlan County Senior Center.
