He was predeceased by: his parents, Patrick McDermott and Mary McDermott (Lynch); his wife Patricia McDermott; his daughter Gina Chilson; his sons-in-law, Allan Cleem and Tom Sherman; his granddaughter Julianna Pavlik; and his siblings, Jerry, Ben, Johny, Matt, George McDermott, Mae, Margie McDermott, RoseAnn Alligier and Aggie Bernhardt.
He is survived by: his son-in-law Jim Chilson of Florence, SD; and also, Kathleen Klabenes of O'Neill, NE, Marcy Cleem of Pembina, ND, Marijo Klabenes (Greg) of Inman, NE, Jessie Zaharia (Daniel) of St. Mary's Kansas, Lisa Timmerman (Tim) of O'Neill, NE, Colette Sherman of O'Neill, NE, Mark McDermott of O'Neill, NE, Tom McDermott (Kathy) of O'Neill, NE and Amy Pavlik (Kent) of Verdigre, NE. He is also survived by 50 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren.
