He was predeceased by: his parents, Ward Smith and Marie Smith (Rozell); his brothers, Dwayne Smith (Jean) and Jerry Smith; and his sister-in-law Marcine Smith.
He is survived by: his wife Sharon Smith of O'Neill; his children, Jodi Notkin (John Borzych) of Coral Springs, Douglas Smith (Jennifer) of Stillwater, Molly Keane (Pat) of Omaha and Ellie Erickson (Charles) of Omaha; his grandchildren, Jared Notkin, Colin Notkin, Calvin Smith, Campbell Smith, Andrew Keane, Alex Keane, Max Erickson and Sophie Erickson; his siblings, Daryl Smith of Akron, Iowa and Judy Thomas (Russ) of O'Neill; and his sister-in-law Kathy Smith of Huron. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
