He was predeceased by: his parents, Peter James and Mary Gonzales (Reyna); his wives, Norma Pennington and Dixie Benson; and his daughter Paula Gonzales.

He is survived by: his close friend Dorothy Hill; his children, Ramonda Naylor (Kerry), Cassandra Gregory, Christopher Richter and Tony Richter (Jessica); and his siblings, Al Gonzales and Angelina DeVoe. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family.
