He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe and Bessie; and his brother Bob. He is survived by: his children, Debbie Benge, Mary Jo Conner, Anne Rains (Bill), Joseph Benak, Michelle Benak, David Benak (Michelle) and Stephen Benak (Heather); and his sister Carol Strickland (Bud). He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter.

Visitation was held on Sunday, January 19th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Korisko Larkin Staskiewicz Funeral Home Chapel (5108 F St, Omaha, NE 68117). A vigil service was held on Sunday, January 19th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the Vigil Service Korisko Larkin Staskiewicz Funeral Home Chapel (5108 F St, Omaha, NE 68117). A prayer was held on Monday, January 20th 2025 at 9:30 AM at the Korisko Larkin Staskiewicz Funeral Home Chapel (5108 F St, Omaha, NE 68117). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Monday, January 20th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Saint Thomas More Catholic Church (4804 Grover St, Omaha, NE 68106).
