He was predeceased by: his mother Eileen Bender; his wife Betsy Bender; his father Frederick Bender; his brothers, Dennis, Thomas, Patrick and Jerry Bender; and his brother-in-law Joseph Cruver.
He is survived by: his children, Jon Bender (Ashley), Becky Galvan (Jason), Jimmy Bender (Kelsey) and Sarah Lynch (Patrick); his grandchildren, Gabi, Peyton, Bre, Lilly, Jay, Maggie, Emmy, Colin, Theo and Tyler; and his sisters, Sharonanne Bender, Peggy Cruver and Mary Potmesil (Delbert). He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; siblings; a plethora of nieces and nephews, his extended family and many good friends.
Visitation was held on Friday, February 7th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Holy Name Catholic Church (2901 Fontenelle Blvd, Omaha, NE 68106). A prayer was held on Friday, February 7th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A Mass was held on Saturday, February 8th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Holy Name Men's Club Restore the Glory.
