He was predeceased by: his parents, John Russell and Bernice; and his former wife Joan Olson. He is survived by: his wife Judy (Swanson); his children, Chris (Michelle), Dawn Lanham (Troy) and Jason (Sarah); his brother-in-law Allen Olson (Tamra); and his brother Allyn (Vicki). He is also survived by 8 grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers memorials to St. Paul Lutheran Church or The Little White Dog Rescue of Omaha.
