With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Mary Barnes of Ogallala, Nebraska, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. Mary left this world on March 18, 2025 at the age of 85, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Ivan Lester and Margaret Louise Birdsall (Kennedy); her husband David D. Barnes; and her sister Rita Russell. She is survived by: her children, Deborah Wieser (Danny) of Big Springs, Denise Hoffman (Terry) of Ogallala, Randy Barnes (Teresa) of Big Springs, Sharon Hatch (Grant) of Lewellen and Michael Barnes (Kari) of Ogallala; her grandchildren, Justin Barnes (Pamela), Shaun Bayne, Brett Hoffman (Dave), Jordan Hoffman, Kayleen Cooper (Reginald), Aaron Barnes, Joanna Swisher, Jennifer Ault (Anthony), Crystal Hall, James Hall Jr., Garrett Hatch, Jesse Barnes (Milisa), Austin Barnes and Karissa Barnes; and her siblings, Patrick Birdsall (Vi), Bill Holmstedt (Lori) and Peggy Thuman (Gregg). She is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 23rd 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Prairie Hills Funeral Home (602 N Spruce St, Ogallala, NE 69153). A rosary will be held on Sunday, March 23rd 2025 at 5:00 PM at the St. Luke's Catholic Church (417 E 3rd St, Ogallala, NE 69153). A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, March 24th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
Memorials are suggested to St. Luke's School, St. Luke's Catholic Church, or St. Jude's Children's Hospital in Mary's memory.
