We bid farewell to Jacquelyn Bassett of Ogallala, Nebraska, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on December 4, 2024 at the age of 87. Jacquelyn touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. She was predeceased by: her parents, Elmer J. Mecke and Clara Mecke (Guenther); her husband Buck of Luke's Catholic Church Ogallala; and her sisters, Mary Doty (Bill) and Marlene "Emmie" Petersen (Fred).
She is survived by: her children, Matt Bassett (Mary Jo) of Omaha, Jane Diaz (Ray) of Ogallala, Marty Bassett (Jackie) of Mesa, AZ, John Bassett (Janice) of Gastonia, NC and Teresa Bradney (Brian) of North Platte. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren, with one more on the way; 4 step-great-grandchildren; along with many other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held on Sunday, December 8th 2024 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Prairie Hills Funeral Home (602 N Spruce St, Ogallala, NE 69153). A funeral service was held on Sunday, December 8th 2024 at 6:00 PM at the St. Luke's Catholic Church (417 E 3rd St, Ogallala, NE 69153). A funeral Mass was held on Monday, December 9th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
A memorial has been established in Jacque's memory for later designation.
