He was predeceased by: his parents, Lyle Baars and Elsie Baars (Steele); and his brother Roger Baars. He is survived by: his wife Joyce Leach of Ogallala. He is also survived by nieces, nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Wounded Warrior Project or a like charity in Jack's memory.
