He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Gordon Shirey and Carol Shirey (Carpenter); his wife Cynthia Petersen; his children, Lisa Shirey of Ogallala, Heather Salmen (Michael) of Omaha and Thomas Shirey of Lincoln; his sister Cindy Slack (Charlie) of Omaha; and his granddaughters, Blair Shirey and Delaney Gove. He was also cherished by four nieces and a nephew.
