He was predeceased by: his parents, Martin Nielsen and Theresa Nielsen (Feltz); his wife Elaine McKeag; his son John; his sister Mary; and his son-in-law Tom Macdissi.
He is survived by: his children, Melody McGowan (Kelly) of Columbus, Kirsten Macdissi of Fort Calhoun, Elise Lockhart (Kevin) of Ogallala, Martin (Jackie) of Loveland, CO and Matt (Laura) of Ogallala; his grandchildren, James McGowan (Stephanie) of Omaha, Anthony McGowan (Melissa) of Omaha, Nicholas Nielsen (Christie) of Erie, CO, Monica Doherty (John) of Fort Collins, CO, Erica DiRocco (Robert) of Houston, TX, Lucas Nielsen (Becky Adair) of Ogallala, Jenny Nielsen of Ogallala, Adam Macdissi (Kristen) of Omaha, Anthony Macdissi (Sarah) of Omaha, Elena Barker (Joshua) of Roca, NE, Theresa Knobbe (Alex) of Omaha and Phoebe Lockhart (Aaron Collins) of Boston, MA; and his siblings-in-law, Gail Anderson of Tensleep, WY, Mary Ann Anderberg of Arthur and Delbert McKeag (Carolyn) of Ogallala. He is also survived by numerous other relatives and friends.
A memorial has been established to St. Luke's School.
