He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Dewey and Bernice Caroline Powell (Ross); his children, Sheryl Kay and Myron Dewey; his brother Roger; his stepmother Rae Lucille Powell; and his brothers-in-law, Larry Baumgartner and Gary Dimmitt.
He is survived by: his children, Cristy Bernice (Chad Johnson) and Melvin DeWayne; his wife Sheila Powell; his children, Laura "Kokie" Joy (TJ) and Marlin Powell; his grandchildren, Dakota (Tiffany), Dallas and April; his siblings, Ellen, Maxine, Linda and Steve Powell; and his sister-in-law Judy Powell. He is also survived by several other nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation.
