He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond Mehaffey and Irene Mehaffey (Scott); and his daughter-in-law Cyndy Mehaffey (Harrison). He is survived by: his wife Doris R. Cerny; and his sons, Richard James (Jane), William James (Debra) of North Bend and David James of Burwell. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 3 step great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, suggested memorials are the North Bend Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department and the Fremont First United Methodist Church.
