He was predeceased by: his parents, Rudolph Fittje and Irene Fittje (Gehring); his sister Linda Pugh Majerus; and his brother-in-law Jim Vanderkolk. He is survived by: his wife Patsy Vanderkolk; his children, Ryan (Johanna) of Fremont, Russ (Sonya) of Papillion and Robyn Klingman (Josh) of Grand Island; his siblings-in-law, Rich Majerus of Elkhorn, Sheryl Block (Mike) of Hallam and Beverly Vanderkolk of Austin, TX; and his grandchildren, James of Drew, RJ and Kyla. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
