He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Petersen, and Lorraine Petersen, Sr. (Voigt); his spouse Shirley Beltz; his siblings, Julie Thompson, Theresa Freeman, Robert Petersen and Dean Petersen; and his brothers-in-law, Les Thompson and Jerome Dittrich.
He is survived by: his daughters, Sherri Lewis (Jay Baumann) of Norfolk and Pam Hoff (Jerry) of Norfolk; his sisters, Elaine Dittrich (Rudy) of Tilden, Kay Dittrich of Tilden and Debra Howard of Meadow Grove; and his siblings-in-law, Jerry Freeman of Norfolk and Jolene Petersen of Tilden. He is also survived by five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren.
