He was predeceased by: his parents, Virgil J. Yant and Clara J. Yant (Munk); his wife Karen A. Cushing; his brother James "Jim" Yant; his brothers-in-law, Dean Juranek, Michael Senior, Matthew Kampfe and Zelpha Golding (Burdette); and his nephew James "Jim" Yant, Jr..

He is survived by: his daughter Kim Battani (Jeffrey) of Ankeny, IA; his granddaughters, Mia Battani of Iowa City, IA and Kaylee Battani of Des Moines, IA; his stepgrandchildren, Zachary Battani (Amber) of Pleasant Hill, IA, Matthew Battani (Joanna) of Ankeny, IA and Kathryn Brewer (Blake) of Woodward, IA; his siblings, John "Jack" Yant (Sue), Lora Juranek, Kathy Senior, Carolyn Magruder (Sam) and Mary Kampfe; and his sister-in-law Mary Yant. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, extended relatives and close friends.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, January 8th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Craig Funeral Home (336 N Nebraska Ave, Minden, NE 68959). A funeral service was held on Thursday, January 9th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Minden Evangelical Free Church (1310 W 1st St, Minden, NE 68959).

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Ray's honor are kindly suggested to the Minden Evangelical Free Church or to the Minden Senior Center.

“It was a joy to get to know Ray and Karen Yants when they lived in Ankeny, IA. They were both in my weekly small group and Ray was in my men's studies. He learned a lot and told me several times of the regrets of his earlier lifestyle. He became eager to be the husband and father that he knew God wanted him to be. I am glad he is in heaven with his God and his wife Karen whom he missed. I will see you again buddy when Jesus calls me home! Gary Shaw”
