Leroy Schmidt Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Leroy Schmidt of Minden, Nebraska, who passed away on April 14, 2021 at the age of 77. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Joseph and Florence Hazel Schmidt (Bent); his sister Joyce King (Bill); his sisters-in-law, Joann Warrick (Roland) and Grace Schroeder; his nephew Michael; his brothers-in-law, Arnold Groothuis and Robert Broeker; and his nephew Keith Broeker.

He is survived by: his wife Janet Kay Schroeder of Holdrege; his sons, Jeffrey, Jay Schmidt (Christine) of North Platte, Nebraska and Jeff Schmidt of Kearney, Nebraska; his grandchildren, Nicole Kramer (Charles) of Hastings, Nebraska, Brett Schmidt (Nikki) of North Platte, Megan Schmidt of Axtell, Nebraska, Matthew Schmidt of North Platte and Jordan Schmidt of Lincoln, Nebraska; his great grandchildren, Jayleigh, Emmet, Lily Kramer, Rohan and Elliott Schmidt; his sisters, Ruby Groothuis of Funk, Nebraska and Carol Porter of Grand Island, Nebraska; and his sister-in-law Donna Dahlman (Myron). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Due to health concerns, regarding the COVID-19 pandemic; the Schmidt family sincerely encourages each person to make their decision whether to attend the visitation and funeral service, based on the best interest of your health, and that of your community.

A memorial has been established in Leroy's honor, and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
