He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman Gustave and Serena Isabel Messinger (Zimmerman); his siblings, Betty (Don Crocker) of Centralia, Missouri, Ruth (Wayne Joy) and Merlin (Eunice); his mother-in-law Agnes Witte; and his sister-in-law Margie McBee of McCook.

He is survived by: his wife Eva Jane Paxton; his sons, Mark (Pat) and Kirk (Peggy) of McCook; and his grandchildren, Paul Messinger, Amy Bohmont (Matt), David Messinger (Kari), Keith Messinger (Kelsey) and Kayla Messinger.
