He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Messinger and Bertha Messinger (Lofton); his wife Gloria Marie Larreau; his grandchildren, Elizabeth Anne Messinger and Zachary Adam Messinger; and his siblings, Wayne (Donna Messinger), Wilma (Lyle Stevens) and Ardis (James Poole).

He is survived by: his sons, Lance Fred Messinger (Cheryl) of Longmont, Craig Duane Messinger of McCook and Bruce Kevin Messinger of Erie, Colorado; his grandchildren, Sarah Marie Smith (Nick), Lindsey Nicole Messinger, Amanda Lee Messinger, Alexander John Messinger, Samantha Nicole Messinger, Benjamin August Messinger and Noah Mayson Messinger; and his great grandchildren, Andrew August Smith and Elizabeth Teresa Marie Smith. He is also survived by cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
