He is survived by: his wife Janet Shepherd (Lusk) of McCook; his children, Kimberly Mahon of Santa Barbara, Tonya Placzek (Rich) of McCook, Tami Darling (Kevin) of McCook and David Mahon of Las Vegas, Nevada; his grandchildren, Tyra Barger (Scott) of McCook, Talia Sawyer (Aaron) of Papillion, Talon Darling (Lindsay) of Denver, Taryn Arterburn (Joel) of McCook and Tristian Peterson (Wyatt) of Denver, Colorado; his great grandchildren, Kyson, Kreighton, Kroy, Tatum Jo, Preslee, Gwen, Norah, Bently, Harper, Drake and Landon; and his brother Wayne Mahon (Linda) of Haigler, Nebraska.

Memorials may be left in Gene's name to a charity to be named at a later date.
