He was predeceased by: his father Donald L. Peterson. He is survived by: his mother Ruth Ann Peterson (Sterup) of Stromsburg; his sibling Lumber; his former wife Jacqueline 'Jacki Ray Johnston; his wife Jacki of Marquette; his children, Clint Peterson (Kerry) of York, Martina Niemeyer (Todd) of Papillion and Clay Peterson (Morgan) of Stromsburg; his brothers, John Peterson of Fredericksburg, VA and Lee Peterson (Michel) of Benedict; his mother-in-law Phyllis Borden of Stromsburg; and his brothers, Perry (Sharon Noyd), Murry (Johnston) and Marlowe (Pam Johnson). He is also survived by other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held at the Stromsburg Baptist Church at later date once the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions are lifted.
