He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Schmidt and Emogene Schmidt (Sunderman); and his brother Dean Schmidt. He is survived by: his wife Kathy Smutny; his children, Robert Schmidt of Madison, Brian Schmidt (Tracy) of Madison and April Thraen (Michael) of Ogallala, NE; his siblings, Dennis Schmidt (DiAnne), Ronald Schmidt (Cheryl), Jerry Schmidt (Jeanette), Cindy Schmidt and Carol Schmidt; and his sister-in-law Audrey Schmidt. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, and one on the way; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
