He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Johnston and Nona Johnston (Gentry); his wife Betty B. Johnston; his siblings, Neil, Lyle, Lois, Jean and Faye; and his grandfather Raye.
He is survived by: his daughters, Kim Hemmele (Tony) of Loomis and Janet Johnston of Salina, Kansas; and his grandchildren, Hannah Hemmele (Evan Welch) of Holdrege, Brian Hemmele (Paola Alvarado) of Holdrege and Sarah Fiejen (Casper) of Lincoln, Nebraska. He is also survived by many extended family members, nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Visitation was held on Sunday, November 17th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home (401 Burlington St, Holdrege, NE 68949). A funeral service was held on Monday, November 18th 2024 from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the Loomis Evangelical Free Church (102 Saxon St, Loomis, NE 68958).
