He was predeceased by: his parents, James Sr. Polivka and Agnes Polivka; his brother Jerome Polivka; his parents-in-law, Fred and Lucille Helman; and his close friend Ed "Cubby" Tomkiewicz.

He is survived by: his wife Marcene Helman; his children, Ronald J. Polivka (Amy), Geena Mehl (Darren), Frederic Polivka (Amy) and Jenny McNeese (Tim); his grandchildren, Cami Wickstrom (Corey), Daniel Polivka, Treyton McNeese (Halle), Conner Mehl (Megan), Stephanie Polivka, James McNeese, Taylor Polivka, Addi Polivka, Brody McNeese and Jacob Mehl (Kelsey); his great grandchildren, Palmer Mehl, Kaleb Mehl and Brant Mehl; his siblings, James Jr. Polivka (Jean) and Irene Stara (Lee); and his sister-in-law Judi Polivka. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews.

Visitation was held on Sunday, March 23rd 2025 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the North American Martyrs Catholic Church (1101 Isaac Dr, Lincoln, NE 68521). A rosary was held on Sunday, March 23rd 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Monday, March 24th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the same location. A funeral service was held on Monday, March 24th 2025 at 1:30 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Monday, March 24th 2025 at the Lincoln Memorial Park and Cemetery (6800 S 14th St, Lincoln, NE 68512).
