He was predeceased by: his siblings, Orville, Laverne, Luther, Leonard and Bertha; his parents-in-law, Donald and Gertie Shew (Sangen); and his great grandchild Addison Jean Hunter.

He is survived by: his wife Donna Mae (Shew); his children, Denice Arrowsmith and Scott Monroe (Gretchen); his grandchildren, Tyler Hunter (Mercedes), Lauren Linn (William), Connor Churchill (Taylor), Macy Arrowsmith and Thomas Monroe; his great grandchildren, Kitsy, Emerson, Daxton and Bryton; his sister Kathleen Holl (Charlie); and his sisters-in-law, Alberta and Carol Monroe. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
