He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph E. Akins and Marian Akins (Overton); and his son-in-law Pat Schartz. He is survived by: his children, Patrick Akins (Linda) of Flower Mound and Michalla Schartz (Scott Willamson) of Lincoln, Nebraska.; his wife Nancy Ann Akins (Peterson); and his brother Richard Akins (Peggy) of South Sioux. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Saturday, April 12th 2025 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the CST Redeemer Lutheran Church (510 S 33rd St, Lincoln, NE 68510). A funeral service was held on Saturday, April 12th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Redeemer Lutheran Church (510 S 33rd St, Lincoln, NE 68510).
