She was predeceased by: her parents, Emil Schmitz and Amanda Schmitz; her husband Dan; and her siblings, Warren Schmitz and Ellen Lovaas.
She is survived by: her children, Dan Hergert (Mary), Polly Bowhay (Scott), John Hergert (Maureen) and Mary Sue Papale (Rocky); her grandchildren, Kelli Hergert, Joe Hergert, Tommy Hergert, Jessica Greenwald, Jenni Makela, Sarah Bowhay, Betsy Carr, Amanda Hergert, Emily Peterson, Becky Shay and Nicky Papale; and her great grandchildren, Hadley Hergert, Teddy Hergert, Daisy Hergert, Lennie Hergert, Zoe Greenwald, Gus Greenwald, Fitz Greenwald, Banks Makela, Lovie Makela, Addie Digman, Frannie Digman, Rosie Digman, Joel Carr, Cleo Bea Carr, Juliana Brown, Ellie Brown, Lilia Brown, John Brown, Philip Brown, Jack Peterson, Sam Peterson and Mila Shay.
Visitation was held on Monday, March 31st 2025 from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM at the Roper and Sons South Chapel (3950 Hohensee Dr, Lincoln, NE 68516). A rosary was held on Monday, March 31st 2025 at 6:30 PM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Tuesday, April 1st 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Cathedral of the Risen Christ (3500 Sheridan Blvd, Lincoln, NE 68506).
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the Cathedral of the Risen Christ Altar Society or Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital.
